This work is designed to be an ongoing conversation. We’re really excited about the conversations we’ve already had and look forward to continuing to engage with folks. You can see what we’ve done below!
Spring 2023: In April, we held two meet and greets to begin to meet and talk with community members about their general impressions about science-related information.
- April 8, 2023 – First Meet and Greet at Milwaukee Public Library Atkinson Branch
- April 22, 2023 – Second Meet and Greet at Milwaukee Public Library Atkinson Branch
Summer 2023: Over the summer, we held community conversations to have more directed conversations with community members about their experiences with science-related information. These discussions will guide and direct future conversations and efforts.
- July 24, 2023 – First virtual Community Conversation
- August 3, 2023 – First in-person Community Conversation at The Table
- August 28, 2023 – Second virtual Community Conversation
- August 30, 2023 – Second in-person Community Conversation at The Table
Fall 2023: We continued community conversations as we sought to engage new folks and perspectives. We opted to pivot to virtual evening conversations in order to accommodate more individuals and make things more convenient for those interested in talking with us.

Spring 2024: In the first half of 2024 we held two kinds of events a) share outs and b) focus groups. Share outs provided a space to discuss our findings with community, including providing any additional information, talking together about errors or things that might be missing, and answering questions. Additionally, we used this opportunity to discuss what community members would like to see next and how we can move forward together. We also began our focus groups. These focus groups were designed to delve more deeply into the experiences we learned about during the 2023 community conversations.
